UGANDA EMBASSY,HAVANA SEEKS FOR CLOSER COOPERATION BETWEEN UGANDA AND MAYABEQUE PROVINCE, CUBA
Uganda Embassy, Havana led by H.E Ambassador Elizabeth Sylvia Musazi visits the province of Mayabeque, Cuba to explore areas of cooperation between Uganda and Mayabeque.
The Embassy held bilateral discussions with the political leadership of Mayabeque, Chamber of Commerce, instituto Nacional De Crencia Agrícolas, University of Agraria among other institutions of Mayabeque
Mayabeque is one of the newest provinces in Cuba having been officially formed in 2011. It has 13 municipalities and a population of approximately 381,385 people. The province is famous for being an agricultural province producing fruits, vegetables, sugar cane, fruits, livestock and associated products. It is known for products like oil and gas, building materials, electric cables, rubber, glass, ceramics, fish and its products. It boasts of agricultural research institutes, food processing, paper processing, bio-pharmaceuticals, rum processing, sugar processing and power factories making it easily relatable to Uganda, an agricultural country.
